Ghana has officially unveiled entrepreneur and model Hamamat Montia as the country’s Shea Butter Ambassador at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
Present was the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dzifa Abla Gomashie and attended by key ministry officials and industry stakeholders.
The appointment recognises Hamamat Montia’s longstanding advocacy for shea butter production and her role in promoting Ghanaian indigenous products on the global stage.
The recognition marks a strategic milestone in reinforcing Ghana’s commitment to cultural preservation, indigenous innovation, and heritage-led development.
By appointing Hamamat as Shea Butter Ambassador, the ministry aims to strengthen awareness of the shea industry, support local producers particularly women in rural communities and position Ghana’s shea butter as a premium cultural and economic export.
The initiative aligns with broader national efforts to celebrate Ghana’s rich heritage while leveraging traditional industries as drivers of sustainable development and international recognition.
