#TheGreatestGift: 2 Baba leads African influencers in Feb 6 charity concert in Accra

2 Baba, Nigerian Pop star, will headline a grand musical concert in Ghana this February, to raise funds for the UNHCR’s LuQuLuQu project.

Slated for the Labadi Beach Hotel, the concert looks to raise not less than GHC 100, 000 in support of the numerous displaced Africans due to strife, persecution, or natural disasters.

The event will be hosted by Ghana’s Giovani Caleb and Amina Abdi Rabar (Kenya), and will also witness performances from KiDi, Kuami Eugene, Kurl Songz, Adina, Okyeame Kwame,eShun among others; across Afropop, Highlife, and Hiplife.

Himself a LuQuLuQu ambassador, 2 Baba (formerly trading by the showbiz name 2Face Idibia) has, for as long as he has practised music professionally, used his voice as a tool for justice, social change, and self determination, perpetually calling for “one love” in his compositions, and speaking truth to power.

Discussing his decision to be part of the movement, Giovani lauded the courage of refugees, calling on all to laud their unrelenting spirit. “I think we all should be passionate about the living conditions of these displaced families. They didn’t choose this and their courage must be celebrated by all means,” he said.

Aside the motive of canvassing support for the refugees, the night is also aimed at celebrating the resilience of survivors, who look forward to every waking morning with renewed hope, nursing ambition and pursuing their passion despite worrying circumstances in which they find themselves.

The charity event is also expected to draw dozens of celebrities from politics, media, showbiz, and industry come the night of Wednesday February 6.

Brainchild of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), LuQuLuQu is a social movement that was created to “transform public perceptions of the African refugee” as well as “shed light on the incredible resilience refugees demonstrate.”

Tickets for the concert are pegged at GHC 300 and GHC 200 for VIP and regular categories respectively.
