I want united creative arts before I die – Daddy Lumba

Highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, is just as worried as many stakeholders are, about the seeming division in the creative arts industry. And if there is anything the man, also known as DL wishes for before he takes his last breath, it is to see a united creative arts industry.

In a video posted on Adom FM’s Facebook page, the Ye Nea Woho Beto Wo hitmaker said his only wish now was to know that his funeral would be attended by creative arts players who are united and that would help him to rest in peace.

With many music lovers singing the praises of the new crop of musicians, Daddy Lumba said without unity and support, these talents can’t fully explore their potential.

He also called on young acts making waves now to humble themselves and learn from established ones to help them stay relevant.

In the video, Daddy Lumba also expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for supporting his career.

Meanwhile, the Aben Wo Ha singer has been blamed for the death of another budding talent, Anokye Supremo.

Anokye Supremo, who was a huge fan of Lumba and was even known as DL Junior, died in India last week from complications after surgery for a brain tumour.

Since his death, social media has been awash with criticism from people who say Daddy Lumba’s unwillingness to mentor the deceased as well as his suing of Anokye Supremo for using his name intellectual property for financial gains contributed to his ill health.

However, Frank Agyekum, a former manager of Daddy Lumba, has dismissed those accusations. Speaking on Onua FM on Friday, February 1, Agyekum said he knew Supremo very well and there was no reason to link his death to Daddy Lumba.

He pointed out that Anokye clearly died of a tumour and the public needed to research the condition to understand what happened to him, instead of casting insinuations.

Manager of Anokye Supremo, Isaac Kwabena Zakaria also asked that people not accuse Lumba falsely.

Speaking on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review show on Thursday, January 31, he told the host, Akwasi Aboagye from India that Anokye Supremo had warned that no one should be blamed for his death if he didn’t survive the surgery.
