He has been on radio for almost three decades, so Peace FM’s Kofi Kum Bilson knows what he’s talking about when he says standards on radio have fallen.

“I used to be very proud being a broadcaster but the standards these days is nothing to write home about due to the saturation of the airwaves,” he said.

According to Kofi Kum Bilson, radio presenters were really respected back in the day.

“If you were a radio presenter, you were respected, we are doing our best to keep the flag high but these days the least said about radio the better,” he told this reporter in an interview on Thursday.

Kofi Kum Bilson’s experience on radio is extensive. He started his radio career at GBC where he presented Band Stands which was then produced by Eddie Amoo. He then moved to Joy FM where he hosted Lunch Time Rhythms for almost a decade.

Multimedia was expanding so he was asked to go and strengthen the team in Kumasi so he moved to Luv FM where he also hosted Lunch Time Rhythms and later moved to host the morning mhow when the substantive host, the late Dusty Wayne, had to take care of other responsibilities.

“After six years, management approached me that there was competition in Accra, that was when Peace FM was established so I came back to Accra to join Adom FM where I hosted Dwaso Nsem and Sunday afternoon programme.”

He stayed at Adom FM for three years and moved to Peace FM where he has been for the past 15 years producing and hosting the mid-morning show, Working Time.

Away from radio matters, Kofi Kum Bilson disclosed to Showbiz that he has been a born-again Christian for the past eight to 10 years. He worships at the the KICC on the Spintex Road.

“I am a born-again Christian, I have had a personal encounter with God, I know He is true and I know He is alive.

“This has really gotten hold of me because I have come to realise what life is about, I know what God has told me, I am preparing. I know I am a kingdom promoter, that’s all that my life is about now,” he said.

Kofi Kum Bilson is the last of seven children born to Mr Alfred Baah Bilson and Mrs Juliana Bilson both of blessed memory. He is married to Abigail and they have two adorable daughters.
