CEO of Media Excel, Mr. Kwesi Ernest Ennin has issued a strong warning to the self acclaimed dancehall king, Shatta Wale to refund monies paid to him (Shatta) after the artiste failed to fulfill a contractual agreement or face the music.
Akwasi Ernest’s caution is on the back of an impending cancellation of an annual event held on the Mountain every December dubbed “Bliss On the Hills” initiated by Bryan Acheampong, MP for Kwahu Abetifi and powered by Kwahu Republic and Media Excel.
On December 29, Shatta Wale was expected to join reggae/dancehall artistes including Jupitar, Stonebwoy, Samini, and Ras Kuuku to entertain patrons who were charged up for him, but refused to show up.
Speaking in an interview with Akwasi Aboagye on Peace FM’s “Entertainment Review” Show, Akwasi Ernest revealed that Shatta Wale was paid over One Hundred Thousand Ghana cedis to make a performance at their event where all parties involved, signed an agreement to that effect.
But on that fateful day, he refused to show up.
According to him, Shatta Wale and his management said they were not comfortable with a Hotel provided for them before the show, hence his anger, so opted out and drove back to Accra without fulfilling his part of the agreement.
Mr. Kwesi Ernest stated that he does not want to do anything in a rush for people to tag him as a wicked person; alluding to a past incident.
“Shatta Wale was fully paid and he later requested for an extra amount. According to his manager, Shatta Wale was in Kwahu around 8pm and said he was not comfortable with the hotel provided for him so he got angry and drove back to Accra . . . artistes ought to respect the investment event organizers put in to organizing events,” he added.
Akwasi Ernest therefore said he has given Shatta Wale and his manager Chris Konney, up to Monday, to cough up monies paid to him or else a radical course of action will be taken.
