Humility is secret to my longevity – Akrobeto

Since he started acting in the Keysoap Concert Party series with the Kristo Asafo drama group and transitioned to movies in 2008, Kumawood actor, Akwasi Boadi, popularly known as Akrobeto, has been going strong and seems to be in even more demand today.

And just in case one was wondering how he has managed to stay relevant for more than a decade when even his younger compatriots have fallen by the wayside, the answer is simple; humility.

According to the 58-year-old actor, he is humble and shows respect to everyone so he gets favours all the time.

“If you are not humble no one will want to work with you and humility has always been my hallmark. I eat any food I am given on set and sleep comfortably in hotels some of my colleagues complain about.

“My spiritual father, Apostle Kojo Safo, always told me to be humble and the advice he gave me about 40 years ago has brought me where I am now,” he said.

Akrobeto explained that although some of the movie producers can be annoying sometimes, he is still able to work with everyone and he has not had any problem with anyone so far.

“Some of my colleagues will easily walk off set if they are not treated well but I have never done such a thing before because I can tolerate anything,” he said.

Although the movie industry is not doing as well as it should, Akrobeto is still happy because he and his colleagues in Kumawood are doing well because they have been able to acquire property through their craft.”

“As for the Akan actors, all of them are good. Lil Win, Kwaku Manu, Bill Asamoah, Nana Ama McBrown, Akyere Bruwaa, Vivian Jill are all great actors and I am proud of them especially for the properties they have acquired,” he said.

According to Akrobeto, he is motivated to do more anytime he sees the properties Lil Win and Kwaku Manu have.

“I commended Lil Win for establishing his school, same as Kwaku Manu and I always challenge myself to do better,” he said.

Is Akrobeto as rich as people see him? The father of three said he is very comfortable but he seeks to get more because he wants to enjoy later when he is no more active.

“I have two storey buildings, one in Accra and the other in Kumasi. Both are eight bedrooms self-contained. I use four cars: Toyota Venza, Honda Crosstour, Toyota Corolla and a Kantanka car so I will say I am very comfortable,” he said.

Akrobeto has featured in over 300 movies some of which are Onipa Awieye, Don’t Break My Heart, The Tyrant King, Enemy Within, Efie Bia Amanea Wom, My Brother Is Rich, Back To School Again and Nipa Nua Ne Nipa.
