Award winning Ghanaian comedian, Derrick Kobina Bonney known in show business as DKB, thrilled comedy lovers at the 2019 edition of MUSIGA Presidential Grand Ball held at the Accra International Conference Centre Sunday night.

The front man of “Comedy Express show” who delivered a dazzling stagecraft, mocked the New Patriotic Party with Vice President, Dr Bawumia’s comment on the cedi devaluation by repeating his Mantra, “If the fundamentals are weak, the exchange rate will expose you”.

He noted how the NPP seems to jump and accept any terminology the vice president voices out because they have titled him as “Mr. right”

“Zongo brothers are running the country but Dr Bawumia your thing fire dey inside oo, the fundamentals will be weak and the cedi will expose you. But you see Zongo brother, the cedi has exposed him and he is still explaining himself, and nobody could do anything, I’m sure the night before his presentation he was with Nana, herh gyi ma naa, Charlie adi no de3 s3 ase3 oo, meka kyere wo walahi, if the fundamentals fail you because of the cedi depreciation it doesn’t mean the fundamentals have failed because of the logical wrapping of the economic fundamentalization, he said”.

I’m sure Bawumia would say, Nana menti ase3 and Nana would also say men so menti ase3 but koka kyere omo, and he came to tell us and everybody believed, you see the NPP fans, were praising him, we didn’t understand anything he said, he jestingly mimic Akufo-Addo and Bawumia.

DKB further cautioned Ghanaian journalists to stop bombarding Bawumia with questions about the cedi depreciation and go straight to Ken Agyapong because he is the honest man in the NPP and he makes work easier.

He said unlike the NPP which will take time to explain to Ghanaians the reason for the cedi’s depreciation, the opposition party NDC will drag the NPP to’clean up their mess’.

“Yea we said the fundamental will expose you when the cedi depreciates, the cedi has depreciated, the fundamentals have exposed us so the economy is weak, when their party is in power, they will never go down alone, they will drag NPP along”, DKB said.

The motivation from DKB’s jokes came after Dr Bawumia on Wednesday, 3 April 2019 said at a town hall meeting of the Economic Management Team that it is “warped” reasoning for the NDC to say that the fact that there has been a fall in the value of the cedi necessarily means Ghana’s economic fundamentals are weak.

Dr Bawumia said the cedi fall was largely due to external factors rather than weak fundamentals of the economy, unlike, in his opinion, it pertained in 2014 when he (Dr Bawumia), famously said: “If the fundamentals are weak, the exchange rate will expose you”.

People who were present at the sixth MUSIGA Presidential Grand Ball were First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo; the Vice President, Dr Bawumia and the Second Lady, Mrs Samira Bawumia; ministers of state, captains of industry, and members of the diplomatic corps, musicians and MUSIGA executives.

There were amazing performances by Patience Nyarko, Adina and Tic Tac. Other performances were by Bob Pinodo, Asabea Cropper, Naa Amanua, Pat Thomas and Daddy Lumba who invited the Maestro Kojo Antwi on stage.
