The Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards has released it nominations but no Ghanaian got nominated in any of the categories.
Ghanaian artistes missed a spot in the 2019 Best International Act and Best New International Act categories.
Meanwhile Nigeria’s Mr. Eazi, Burna Boy and Teni earned spots in the two categories.
In the past years, some Ghanaian artistes like Kojo Antwi, Sarkodie, R2bees, MzVee, D-Black, Stonebwoy were nominated in the Best International Act: Africa category.
This ‘snub’ follows a no-show when no Ghanaian act got nominated in the ‘Best New International Act’ category.
Booba (France), Cassper Nyovest (SA), Dadju (France), Davido (Nigeria), Distruction Boyz (SA) and Fally Ipupa (Dr. Congo), J Hus (UK), Niska (France), Tiwa Savage (Nigeria), Stefflon Don (UK) and UK grime act Stormzy (UK) got nominated in that category.
Some music enthusiasts had expected that Ghanaian artistes like Shatta Wale, Kuami Eugene, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie and few others who worked hard in 2018 would gain nominations in this year’s BET.
However, last year Ghanaian artiste Kwesi Arthur got selected for the Best New International Act award at the BETs but lost out to South African artiste Sjava.
