The two dancehall artistes in the centre of the pandemonium at the 20th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), have been invited by the police for questioning.
It comes a day after the two: Shatta Wale and his rival Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy, were locked in duel at the VGMA.
Citi News’ Hanson Agyemang reported that the two have been invited by the Accra Regional Police Command.
“We are not clear what the terms of the invitation are but it is related to yesterday’s incident. I have personally seen Shatta Wale who came in a few minutes ago. He was escorted to one of the senior officers at the station. I have been told Stonebwoy is here but I have not seen him personally,” he said.
Director of Operations for the Greater Accra Police Command, ACP Kwesi Ofori in an interview said: “As we speak, they [Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale] are writing their statements and after everything and some preliminary facts are established, the regional CID authorities may decide what to do next.”
Ghanaweekend can confirm that the two have been detained at the Tesano Police Station and may be processed for court in few days.
There was a fight between fans of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy which marred the programme on Saturday.
While Stonebwoy mounted the stage to receive the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year award with his entourage, his arch-rival, Shatta Wale also joined him on stage with some of his fans.
In their bid to get Shatta and his fans off the stage, a scuffle ensued and Stonebwoy pulled a gun.
This interrupted the show, making a lot of patrons leave the auditorium.
