Vodafone, the title sponsor for the Ghana Music Awards has reacted to the ‘fight’ between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy at this year’s awards ceremony which took place on May 18, 2019.
There was a brawl between fans of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy at the programme.
While Stonebwoy mounted the stage to receive the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year award with his entourage, his arch-rival, Shatta Wale also joined him on stage with some of his fans.
In their bid to get Shatta and his fans off the stage, a scuffle ensued and Stonebwoy pulled a gun.
This interrupted the show, making a lot of patrons leave the auditorium.
In a press statement, the mobile telecommunication company condemned the unfortunate incident, pledging its support for the creative industry.

Incident at VGMA 2O19: Vodafone remains committed to the music industry
We refer to the unfortunate incident that occurred during this year’s edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) on May 19, 2019.
We wish to state as follows:
The scuffle on stage during the VGMA is regrettable. However, we acknowledge that a large number of players in the industry do not subscribe to such conduct.
Vodafone, as a responsible organization, is against all acts of violence and such conduct, no matter the circumstances.
We will support any review process of the incident to ensure that our commitment to recognize and celebrate achievement and success in the music industry is not compromised.
For now, our passion for music and for the industry remains solid. We look forward to an exciting future for the industry.
