Award-winning rapper Kwesi Arthur has revealed that he almost got employed as a security guard after he completed Senior High School(SHS) at a period his family was going through financial difficulty.
According to the artiste who won the Hip Hop Song of the Year award during the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) held over the weekend, times were so hard that he couldn’t even pay to get his WASSCE results after completing school.
The Tema Senior High School graduate told Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Starr FM Wednesday that even though he gained admission to the Ghana Institute of Journalism(GIJ) his parents couldn’t afford the fees and so he had to jettison his dream of enrolling in the premier school.
He disclosed that he had people offering him menial jobs to do and at a point in time he had an offer to be a security guard at Ashaiman.
“I’m glad I stuck to this (music) through all the trials and the stuff people were telling me. People offered me jobs to be a security guard and stuff, I almost went for the job. They even called me once to come for my uniform.”
