“I saved rap music in Ghana from dying four years ago” – Medikal

Eureka! A saviour for rap music in Ghana has been found!

If you thought Obrafour, Reggie Rockstone, Sarkodie, M.anifest and your fave rapper have been great in the Ghanaian music space, wait till you hear this ‘good’ news from Medikal.

After winning the ‘Best Rapper of the Year’ award at the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, the ‘Omo Ada’ rapper said but for him, the rap would have been dead in Ghana.

He wrote on his Twitter handle that he saved rap from dying in Ghana four years ago when he made entry into the music industry.

“4 years ago I saved Ghanaian Rap music from dying and I promise to keep it alive,” he tweeted.

Medikal took the ‘Best Rapper of the year’ titled from M.anifest at the VGMAs this year, beating others like Sarkodie and Obibini who were also nominated for that award.

Sarkodie and EL have all won that category in the past.

It is not clear what Medikal means by saying he “saved’ rap music in Ghana because the game has been tougher before his entry.
