A member of Ghanaian hiplife duo Keche, Andrew Cudjoe was in the grips of the law for illegal driving.
Citi News sighted Andrew in the La District Magistrate Court for taking an illegal U-turn on the Tema Motorway.
He and some other culprits are facing similar charges after they were arrested in a special police deployment. This follows Citi Fm and CitiTV’s campaign on indiscipline on our roads.
So far, 4 persons out of the about 40 culprits have been slapped with fines ranging from GhC600 to GhC780. Andrew was also fined GHc 770.00.
Citi News can confirm that one of the culprits spent last night at the Accra Central MTTD cells for failing to pay his fine.
Police sources say his family is making efforts to pay his fine.
About 40 drivers were on Monday, June 17, 2019, arrested on the motorway for using illegal U-turns.
The crackdown follows Citi FM and Citi TV’s campaign, dubbed War Against Indiscipline.
The campaign since it started has charged citizens to be responsible while reporting other irresponsible drivers by filming them in a name and shame approach.
The campaign also chastised the police for failing to ensure order on our roads.
In response, the Police in partnership with Citi TV and Citi FM embarked on an operation to arrest drivers caught using illegal U-turns.
“We try to use this route, even though it is unapproved to avoid paying tolls,” one driver said.
