The National Theatre and the Multimedia Group Limited, on Tuesday, signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to reintroduce popular Ghanaian stage drama “Concert Party”.

The partnership agreement was to address and fulfil the strategic plan of the National Theatre, which is to inspire artistic experience, engage and enrich their communities and broadening their audience base.

Speaking at the Launch of the New Concert Party and the signing of the MoU, Mrs Emi Appiah Frimpong, the Executive Director of the National Theatre said, the MoU sought to make the theatre the beacon of performing, hence the reintroduction of the Concert Party.

She said Concert Party had been in existence for over a century in Ghana and had provided jobs for the actors and actress in the industry.
“Concert Party” has been with us for over a century and remains a popular stage drama for Ghanaians. It belongs to us and we can’t just let fade away and it would also help thrive our film industry,” she said.

“This partnership has come at an opportune time for all of us to fulfil our needs and we committed to providing the sector with creative productions that are relevant to Ghanaians as well as addressing and highlighting the wealth and wisdom of our country”, She added.

Nana Fredua Ofori Atta, the Board Chairman of the National Theatre said, the partnership with the Multimedia would help broadcast the New Concert Party to the whole world.

He urged the performing acts to respect and show the true value of the concert and stand united.

Mr Ofori Atta called on cooperate organisations to support the National Theatre and Multimedia so that they can sustain the project.

Mrs Abena Yiadom, the Channel Manager of Multimedia said, one of the aims of the partnership was to promote the rich Ghanaian heritage and also urged the management of the National Theatre to help publicise the concert.

The maiden edition of the “Concert Party” would be held on Sunday, June 23 at the National Theatre.
