Ghanaian singer, Wendy Shay has rendered an apology to former President John Agyekum Kufour over a photo she posted on her social media handle yesterday.

In the photo which was posted and later deleted on her Instagram page, she was seated by former President J.A. Kufour in a sofa and the former president’s gaze was in the direction of her breast.

What brought her a lot of backlashes was the caption of the photo: “Kufour pɛ hwɛ. Finally, met my former chief Uber driver.”

“Kufour pɛ hwɛ” in Twi literally means Kuffour enjoys feasting his eyes on things that are attractive. This was inspired by the lyrics of Wendy Shay’s ‘Uber Driver’ which talks about how men cannot take their eyes off any beautiful woman they see.

The song mentions men like the President, Nana Akufo-Addo, former Presidents J.A Kufour, John Mahama, Asamoah Gyan and her manager, Bullet.

Critics of her post have described it disrespectful and have disapproved of her choice of dress to the meeting.

The photo was taken when Wendy Shay and other Youth Employment Ambassadors paid a courtesy call on the former President.

Read Wendy Shay’s apology below:

“On the 4th of July, 2019, I posted an image of myself and His Excellency Former President John Agyekum Kuffour on my social media timeline. This was after I visited him with my fellow Youth Employment Agency Ambassadors officially. The image I posted went viral on social media for the wrong reasons and I will wish to render an unqualified apology to His Excellency and the board and Management of the Youth Employment Agency. I had no intention of bringing his good image into any public disrepute. I would wish to apologize to the general public as well with most of the comments being directed to my outfit. I am a young lady and I am still learning. To err is human, to forgive is divine. I promise to do better next time. Once again, I am sorry.”
