Popular musicians including Samini, Amandzeba, Black Prophet, Blakk Rasta, Fancy Gadam and Knii Lante have been billed to perform on the maiden edition of Roots Reggae Festival scheduled to take place at the Labadi Beach Hotel on 30th November.

The festival is aimed at celebrating the unity and strength of the African Diaspora and give guidance to the youth as they work at being great.

International artistes billed to perform at the festival are Gramps Morgan and Una Morgan from Morgan Heritage, culture and Leroy Sibbles from Jamaica.

The event, put together by JahMikal entertainment and Black Prophet will also be held at the Kumasi Sports Stadium on December 6 and Tamale Sports Stadium on December 8.

Speaking at the launch of the festival on Friday, July 19, at the Labadi Beach Hotel, Amandzeba, a member of the organizing committee said the event will also be used to scout for other young talents.

“We are giving reggae artistes the opportunity to perform at the maiden edition of Roots Reggae Festival and based on their talent and performance, help build their careers”, he said.

According to him, reggae has been accepted worldwide and GH artistes are likely to get international collaboration. He also asked that Ghanaians support the maiden Roots Reggae Festival.

“The event is being held here and the best we can do is to fully support it. With other international artistes on board, GH artistes are likely to have a collaboration which is good news. I encourage corporate bodies to come support this event”, he added.
