While some people thought he chose to do music because he was unsuccessful in comedy, David Oscar has told Ghana Weekend TV in an interview that his type of comedy was different from what people expected him to do.
The ‘Stars of the Future’ winner said he only took a break from comedy and has returned to it even though he also does music in addition.
“Comedy is like any other trade out there. Once the money is good, once the price is right, I can always do comedy,” he noted.
“Let me explain something to you. I’m an artist, I create so at any given time depending on the inspiration I have I create a piece, a work of art. Now that work of art could be music, it could be comedy, it could be poetry, it could even be a book so I always look for means to express myself,” he added.
He further noted that it takes some level of intelligence to do comedy.
“As far as comedy is concerned, it takes a lot of fire power to be able to compose jokes, test it around, rehearse it and then present it on stage. I’m not going to sit here and pretend that that’s something easy to do. My type of comedy is more intellectual so before I go on stage I need to prepare. I need to to write for my show,” he said.
David Oscar is currently out with his album, ‘Cosmical Vibrations.’
