Even though he is very prominent on social media, actor John Dumelo has revealed that a lot of the work he did prior the Parliamentary Primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were not on social media.
Speaking to Bernard Avle on ‘The Point of View’ on Citi TV, he said he won the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat on the ticket of the NDC because he spoke the language of the delegates.
“I think that it was just because of my hard work and the fact that I had been in the constituency for such a long time and also during the bye-elections which I didn’t contest, I’d been doing a lot of work on the ground and so that amounted to the 88%,” he added.
According to him, he was underestimated because he didn’t put his political work on social media to be seen and appreciated.
“And the good thing I did was most of the political stuff that I did, I didn’t put it on social media. All the hard work and everything I never put it on social media because that’s not what is important. What is important is the one on one dialogue with the delegates which I was doing and so that’s why people were thinking ‘ah but is John contesting, he’s not contesting, here and there” he continued.
“But when you go to the delegates and you speak their language, they’d understand you and they’d vote for you,” he concluded.
Apart from him, two other actors won their slot at the primaries: Dzifa Ablah Gomashie for Keta South Constituency and Ebi Bright for the Tema Central Constituency.
