Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage has announced that she would have to suspend her show in South Africa, following the recent xenophobic attacks in the country.
In a tweet, she posted that due to the attacks, she would not be performing at the DSTV Delicious Festival in Johannesburg slated for September 21, 2019.
“I refuse to watch the barbaric butchering of my people in SA. This is SICK. For this reason, I will NOT be performing at the upcoming DSTV delicious Festival in Johannesburg on the 21st of September. My prayers are with all the victims and families affected by this,” she tweeted.
After announcing her intentions, a follower reminded her that no harm has been done to her people.
“No one has butchered your people but it’s fine. Thanks for taking a stand,” the follower tweeted.
She came back to reply, “Killing anyone that is African are my people whether they are Nigerians or not”.
