Famous Nigerian blogger, Linda Ikeji has disclosed in an interview the hardest point in her journey to attaining her current status.
She said blogging was a passion she pursued in 2006 and for four years, it was all about passion until it became a business.
Speaking to AJ Sarpong on The Brunch In The Citi, she said she had to develop a thick skin to survive the test of time.
She said people could not separate her from the blog and she was attacked from all angles.
“I got a lot of hate. That’s one of the downsides of being a blogger. I got a lot of hate where people couldn’t separate me from the business because there’s me Linda Ikeji the woman and there’s Linda Ikeji the blogger” she said.
“Personally, I don’t gossip about anybody. I don’t care about your story but as a blogger, what’s your story is my business so they couldn’t separate that, so every time I put out something I was getting a lot of hate,” she added.
“People saying all kinds of things mostly because they feel like I give other people the platform to insult others. At first it got to me when I saw the hate but then I had to develop a thick skin and told myself if you want to stay in this business for as long as you wanna stay, you have to understand this is the downside of the business and you have to just brush it off your shoulder so I get a lot of hate. I don’t get that much now but I used to” she continued.
As a result of the hate, her blog got shut down for a day and a half and was only restored after she appealed.
However, she said she was unfazed when the blog was down.
