MultiChoice Ghana, the official media partners of the Big Brother Africa reality show, have dissociated themselves from the news that a Ghanaian version of the Big Brother reality show will soon take place in Ghana.
The Ghanaian reps of the DStv, the official network for the Big Brother Africa reality show tweeted on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, thus: “MultiChoice Ghana has taken note of an image making the rounds on various social media platforms depicting a ‘Big Brother Ghana’ logo. Please be aware that this is fake news.”
DStv is a Sub-Saharan African direct broadcast satellite which provides multiple channels and services to their subscribers, which currently number around 11.9 million.
The majority of subscribers are in South Africa and Nigeria, with Kenya, Ghana, Angola, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Uganda, Mauritius, Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, Lesotho, Ethiopia, the Republic of the Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Swaziland and Botswana additionally served by the company.
Countries like Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa have also had their own versions of Big Brother after Big Brother Africa started, and these have been broadcast on DStv.
It is not clear who is behind the supposed Big Brother Ghana, but what are the implications if they decide to do it without DStv?
In the meantime, Endamol, the franchise owners of Big Brother Africa are yet to respond to the issue.
