I’ve not abandoned ‘Pae Mu Ka’ cypher; it’ll be up after the concert – Obrafour

As the day of Obrafour’s 20th-anniversary concert inches closer, questions on whether he has been able to hold all activities slated for the celebration have come to the table.

Conspicuously missing from his line-up of activities is the ‘Pae Mu Ka’ cypher which was supposed to have rappers ride on the ‘Pae Mu Ka’ beat.

Speaking to Kwame Dadzie on Citi FM’s ‘Celebrity Radar’, Obrafour (real name Michael Elliot Kwabena Okyere-Darko) said he had not abandoned the cypher.

“We realized we had a whole lot and it was going to take a lot of time and since we had already set the date for the concert, we needed to prepare for it so probably we could do that [the cypher] later. Because it is a year-long celebration so we could chip that in at any time but we haven’t abandoned the plan,” he said.

He added that the ‘Pae Mu Ka’ documentary was ready for airing after its premiere was called off a few months ago due to inconsistencies in the some of the accounts in the documentary.

A symposium on the hiplife, Obrafour and his contribution to the genre which was announced as part of the itinerary has also not taken place yet.

Also yet to be organised as part of the celebration, is the regional tour which covers Koforidua, Techiman, Kumasi and Takoradi.

However, on October 18, 2019, Taifa came alive with the Back2Taifa Concert – that was Obrafour’s way of giving back to the community where he had lived in the past.

The ‘Rap Executioner’ who stepped the threshold of the Ghanaian music industry in 1999 held a launch on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, to outline all these activities for his 20 years anniversary.

On Saturday, November 9, 2019, Obrafour, with the support of artistes such as Stonebwoy, Kwaw Kese, Sarkodie, Medikal, Strongman, Edem, Pappy Kojo, Efya, Tic, Efya, Kwamina MP, among other top artists in Ghana, will put up the much-awaited ‘Pae Mu Ka at 20’ concert at the Accra International Conference Centre.

According to Obrafour, the proceeds from the concert will go into his social responsibility project called ‘Obrafour Nti’ where schools in rural communities would be given support in terms of infrastructure, scholarships and teaching aids.
