Musician Quamina MP has said he did not envision his song ‘Wiase Ye De’ was going to be big.
He said he likes to party a lot although he does not have money and he feels nothing should stop one from being happy and that is why he puts all those in his songs.
Speaking to Delay on the Delay Show, he said his father is an elder in Baptist Church in Mankessim and that he wasn’t brought up with the ‘party life’.
When Delay asked him if he thought the song would be big.
“It’s surprising because normally when we post songs on SoundCloud, you get three to five people listening to it so that particular song, I didn’t think that it’ll be this big.”
“When we were vibing it sounded more like an old song- olden days highlife mixed with some hip life so I just felt like trying to see if it picks up and I did. I did the original with Yung C,” he added.
Touching on how the remix with Kwesi Arthur happened, he said he produced a song for him and had to play samples of his own songs to them on their request.
“Then I got the opportunity to work with Kwesi Arthur as a producer. After doing the work, one of the Ground Up members asked me to play my songs for them to listen so I played about 2 songs and added the ‘Wiase Ye De’ and he liked it so they asked that we do a remix,” he added.
He said his wish was to do a remix with the big gurus in the music industry but had to do it with Kwesi Arthur and it’s been a nice feeling.
“I’ve always thought if I’ll do remix it’d be with somebody like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale but I later considered doing it with Kwesi Arthur because he’s very good so we did the song”
He added that they shot and posted the video on YouTube first and it’s had lots of views although it crawled from the start.
