Queen Bey proves, once again, that she is the queen of the music industry. The artist earned a handful of nominations for the upcoming Grammy Awards. That includes the nominations for “Best Pop Vocal Album” and “Best Pop Solo Performance.”
What other nominations did this artist earn? How many Grammy’s does she have? Here’s what we know about Beyoncé and this award show.
Her solo song from Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Lion King, “Spirit” earned a few nominations on its own. According to Variety, that includes the nominations for “Best Song Written For Visual Media” and “Best Pop Solo Performance.” As an entire body of work, Beyoncé’s album The Lion King: The Gift, earned the nomination for “Best Pop Vocal Album.”
“This soundtrack is a love letter to Africa, and I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa, and not just use some of the sounds and did my interpretation of it,” Beyoncé said during an interview with Good Morning America.
“We’ve kind of created our own genre, and I feel like the soundtrack, it becomes visual in your mind. It’s a soundscape. It’s more than just the music because each song tells the story of the film.”
Her Netflix documentary, Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé earned the nomination for “Best Music Film.” Beyoncé’s television special, Making The Gift, earned a few Primetime Emmy Emmy nominations at this year’s award show. However, the television film didn’t receive any awards.
