Ghanaian actor, David Dontoh has told a story of how his uncle drank to stupor and died because he was not allowed to be an actor.
He said his in an interview with AJ Sarpong on Citi TV’s ‘Hall of Fame’.
“I was born into it. I had an uncle who was a very good actor but unfortunately the family did not allow him and drunk himself to death,” he said.
“Because they didn’t allow him to experience his first love of life. He was a singer, he was a dancer and he was an actor,” he added.
He said however that living in his kind of family where they play together, eat in the same bowl, that gave him the accoutrements he needed for acting and that when he was ready, he just knew what to do.
”He was also a lady impersonator. If he dresses up as a woman, you’d not be able to tell the difference between a man and a woman and the family did not want because they said he was going to do concert so they stopped him and that actually got on him and he eventually drunk himself to death,” he said.
Although he was born into a family of diverse professions, he decided to pick from his uncle.
