Ghanaian bloggers don’t know the power they have – Nana Aba Anamoah

Media person, Nana Aba Anamoah has said bloggers in Ghana do not know the power they wield.

Nana Aba who is in the news and in social media trends every now and then for one reason or the other and sometimes for ‘no reason’ at all, has said it is burdensome to be in the news all the time.

According to her, bloggers spend too much of their time gossiping about celebrities and reporting what people post on their social media instead of giving the needed attention to pertinent issues.

She said this while talking to Kwaku Sintim-Misa on his KSM show.

When he asked her how it feels to always be in the news for the slightest thing, she replied, “I think the bloggers in this country have no idea how powerful they are. They just don’t know but they are concentrating so much on celebrities. But they could use their platforms to change so many things in this country because they have a following.”

She noted that gossiping about celebrities does not change living conditions in the country and that the bloggers can do more than just chasing the gossips and doing lazy work of picking social media posts and making news out of them.

“People follow them because they feel they’re going to report gossip,” she said.

“They’re going to tell them who Nana Aba is sleeping with. But that does not change anything in this country. Who I sleep with does not affect the price of kenkey”

“But if we were focusing on the things that really matter if you were going to be a blogger people can mention in circles and say that because of you this has changed then you pat yourself on the back” she added.

“So I think our bloggers can still chase the gossip but they can also do so much more to complement,” she concluded.
