Five members of the Anointed Place Chapel are in police custody after they attacked some officials of the Tema West Municipal Assembly.
The five together with other members of the church attacked officials of the assembly yesterday, who visited the church on a routine inspection of their building permit.
The Head of Local Government Service, Nana Ato Arthur, in an interview with Citi News, condemned the brutalities meted out to the officials.
“They got to the Anointed Palace Chapel at about 11:30 am, and as a normal practice, the head of works requested for their building permit documents, which they failed to produce. The head of works had previously issued four summons to the church, but the leadership of the church never showed up,” he said.
According to Nana Ato Arthur, after the task force was further instructed to write on the walls of the church to produce a permit, they were attacked by the members.
Rev. Obofour recently gained popularity over his feud with Bishop Daniel Obinim of International Godsway Church and his affiliation with some celebrities.
