Screen goddess, Jackie Appiah has said the reason actors of nowadays only bear the title and yet no work is attached to their names is because they copy blindly.
According to her, the young ones only see hardworking actors living a flamboyant life and rush into the industry adding that “But probably that is not your calling so I feel some people get into the profession for the wrong reasons. They get there and they’re stuck and they blame people but you copy blindly.”
Unlike in her days where she has had to go into acting because of her passion and not even caring about the pay, she said such is not seen now.
She cited how she goes to meet young ones who agitating about not being cast when they feel that is supposed to be on set on a particular day.
“I love to act. Ever since I was a kid, I love to act. I could go on set and you wouldn’t give me a cheque and I’d be happy. I wouldn’t care if I was been paid or not but today I’m on set and I see young ones come and probably they’re not filming with them at that particular time, they’re shooting with other people they get agitated and be like ‘I’m leaving, they’re not shooting my scene,” Jackie said.
She advised that people go into a profession they are actually passionate about.
“So people need to follow their heart and know this is what you want to do… don’t get into the wrong profession for the wrong reasons,” she told AJ Sarpong on Citi TV’s Hall of Fame.
