The Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram Constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sam Nartey George, has promised to stage a massive protest if comedian OB makes jokes about ex-president Mahama at 1026 Laughs which is slated for tonight.
This threat comes at the back of a bad joke he made during his performance at the just ended D2R.
While on stage, he made jokes about names and how the bearers turn out in life and then included the name ‘Mahama’.
The joke which was not taken lightly sparked insults and threats.
The comedian rendered an apology this morning and that was more of insult to injury to the NDC foot soldiers on social media – they have been roasting the comedian since the release.
One of the people who joined in on trolling the comedian who also doubles as an optometrist is politician Sam George.
He disclosed that he has spoken to Charter House to make sure OB does not crack a joke of that sort on the event he is billed for tonight.
He added that he will be at the event to laugh to his jokes but will stage a protest if OB ‘misbehaves’.
“I have just had a chat with Management of Charterhouse Ghana over the appearance of OB Amponsah this evening at Night of 1026 laughs.
I expressed my discomfort and strong displeasure at his tribal and partisan diatribes against the person of the former President. He is entitled to hold his personal views no matter how twisted they are but cannot use a paid for platform to disseminate same.
I have the assurances of the organizers that they have since my conversation with them had a talk with him that their platform would NOT be used to peddle such material. I have the assurances that Charter House remains a Ghanaian business entity that is apolitical.
Ghanaian acts can poke fun at all persons in the public space but it must be done without malice and must be backed by facts. Comedy cannot be used to denigrate or peddle falsehood about the character or person of public figures.
ƐI would attend tonight’s programme to have a good laugh but would stage a massive protest if OB ‘misbehaves’.” He posted on facebook
