American actor Hisham Tawfiq has disclosed in an interview with Ghana Weekend that he will be back in Ghana in June this year and more often.
According to him, an article he read on facebook already warned him that he might not want to leave Ghana when he visits and after experiencing it himself, he has concluded he will be returning.
He came with his son who turned 21 on Christmas eve, to see Ghana, learn and have fun during the festivities.
‘Dembe’ as he is popularly known from The Blacklist series, told Ghana Weekend at Afrochella that he got a five-year visa to be able to come back ‘home’ as often as he pleases.
“ I remember before I came, I saw on facebook somebody was like; it was a warning and it was like, warning, before you go to Africa or before you go to Ghana and I clicked on the link and the guy was like when you go to Ghana you not gonna wanna go back. And I don’t wanna go back. And as soon as I landed at the airport and people continued to say this and I don’t think they understand how much it means especially for African Americans coming back here. When you say welcome home, it just resonates. Like it touch your heart. It’s been a beautiful experience.
“Something told me when I bought my visa to get one for like 5 years so I did it cos I knew I was gonna wanna come back. So, I think I’m gonna try to come back in June. I’m gonna be coming back here a lot. Coming back home a lot. So it’s a beautiful experience” he diclosed
From all indications, he had fun while in Ghana.
