Sarkodie explains why he is called arrogant and stingy, says he does not care

Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie has said he is not bothered he is being called stingy and arrogant.

Describing himself in the words, “I’m a very nice genuine person”, he explained that he used to be tagged arrogant until stingy was added recently and that he is not bothered by these names and that at the stage he is at the moment, he barely takes social media comments seriously.

Speaking to KSM on his show, he has come to the realization that people only call him arrogant because he lives by his principles which he does not bend to suit anyone.

“In the beginning, I was like is that true and then I’d double-check myself but now I just got to realize that the same thing that they complain when I go to certain cultures it’s not seen like that and I just realize I’m not wrong. It’s just that I’m dealing with the wrong people so they don’t get it.

“cos my people can’t accept people with opinion so it sounds harsh,” he noted

Sarkodie who has been mentioned mostly in other artistes’ stories to have snubbed them or refuse to do collaborations with them, explained that the only reason they come up with such stories is that they want him to please them against his will.

“I don’t call anybody and go like you have to be here. Nobody have to do anything. They have to want to so I’ll just say, bro if you have time this Saturday, you go fi come house or make we meet for somewhere and then if they say yeah, that’s good and if they say no, perfectly fine.

“But I see that when I do that to anybody else they have a problem.

“I get the fact that they expect a certain energy that they’re used to” he stated

The ‘money no be problem’ crooner added that it is hard for people to read and figure him out which makes them resort to creating their own image of him.

“I think generally I’m somebody that it’s hard for people to read and people to figure me out so now they have to create stuff in their head about this guy (referring to himself) and for the longest, I don’t think I‘ve ever been the type of person trying to tell you that this is what I’m doing.

“My life is very very difficult because I have principles that I live by I’m not ready to bend them cos if I have to bend them then that’s when I have to do what they think which is not right” he continued

Touching on the tag, ‘stingy’, he said he wouldn’t have gotten this far if he were what the public think of him and that one needs to give in order to gain.

“like the stingy thing, it’s a social media whatever so then it trends and everybody just join so any situation that happens they jump on that one which is okay but personally for me if anybody is close to me and knows me as a person that’s why I don’t care so what they’re pushing you to do is trying to prove yourself that you’re not stingy which I’ll never do so you’ll always keep that thing in your head till you die and I don’t care. I genuinely don’t care.

“if I was stingy, if I was wicked I will not be here and getting the favour so anybody who you see is surviving, there’s some favour on the person. You need to give to get back so if you’ve seen me still going to the BET to take an award there’s something I’m doing right. If I’m sitting on my money and saying I won’t give anybody and nobody comes to me, I won’t be here. It will go away cos that’s how nature works”

He, however, made it clear he is not ready to change anybody’s perceptions about him and that they could hold on to it till they die for all he cares.

“So for me personally I know what I do so if you want to sit on radio or tv and try to get me to come and act  so now I’ll have a camera on me and go to Chorkor and go and give people just to make you happy, that’s the principles I have that it’s never going to happen so your perceptions might be there till I die”
