Songstress Mzvee has disclosed the last show she did before leaving the music scene, she had to leave the hospital to the stage.
According to her, she has always put pleasing her fans and others first at the expense of her happiness and needs.
Speaking to Dziffa on Citi TV’s Breakfast Daily, she said prior to quitting music, she told her former manager, Richie Mensah that she was going to quit.
But she said this in passing and so it was not taken seriously until she decided she could not keep up anymore.
“2017 I was in the studio with Richie and I told him you know what I think I’m going to be ending this music thing pretty soon,” she said.
When Dziffa asked her how Richie reacted to the comment, she replied, “He kind of knew I was going through something. I mean once in a while I spoke to him. He knew I was not happy but I just said it in passing and then 2018 we were in the studio again and then I was like Richie, I think this is it because I just couldn’t.
“My last show 2018 was Miss Malaika and I was hospitalized before that show. I was in a hospital bed. And you know depression can make you fall sick so I was just really unwell. I was in a hospital bed. Richie said Vera don’t come and perform but I felt I owed it to people to come because I’d been cancelling shows so I said oh let me just do this Miss Malaika show and then be done so I basically took out my drip. The doctor said don’t move,” she recounted.
Mzvee has been off the music scene for a while which she said was caused by depression and only returned after she is satisfied she is better than she was years ago.
