Nineteen-year-old reggae singer, Koffee has won the Best Reggae Album at the 62nd Grammy Awards.
She won with ‘Rapture’, the EP released in 2019.
Before the award, she told Billboard she was nervous.
“I’m excited and nervous at the same time. Very honoured that my music has been noticed and acknowledged on such a level so I give thanks”
She released her debut single, Toast in 2018 and it has been people’s favourite.
‘Toast’ made it to Barack Obama and his wife’s lists. It made it to Barack’s list in 2019 and to Michelle’s 2020 workout list.

“It was dope. It was super dope and I realized recently also his wife Michelle Obama also has my song on her list for working out so I feel really proud about that” she told Billboard.

She added that she has a lot in store for 2020.

Koffee beat Julian Marley, Sly & Robbie & Roots Radics, Steel Pulse and Third World to win the best album.

Born Mikayla Simpson is a Jamaican reggae singer, songwriter, rapper, deejay and guitarist from Spanish Town, Jamaica. After releasing Toast in 2018, she got signed to Columbia Records in 2019.
In her acceptance speech, the ‘Blazin’ singer dedicated the award to fellow nominees and added that it was a win for Reggae music and Jamaica.
