Beninese songstress, Angélique Kidjo has won the Best World Music Album at the just-ended 62nd Grammy Awards.
The show which was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on 26th January 2020, announced Angélique Kidjo’s ‘Celia’ as the Best World Music Album beating Burna Boy(African Giant), Altın Gün (Gece), Bokanté & Metropole Orkest Conducted By Jules Buckley (What Heat) and Nathalie Joachim with Spektral Quartet (Fanm d’Ayiti).
During the premiere ceremony, the 59-year old Angelique thrilled the audience with her song, ‘Afrika’

This is the fourth win in that category and fourth Grammy awards she has won so far.
She won over Burna Boy whose ‘African Giant’ album had been tipped by most people as the best album on produced in Africa in the year under review.
Angelique in her acceptance speech dedicated the award to Burna Boy.
