Father of late Ebony, Nana Poku Kwarteng popularly Starboy Kwarteng has refuted claims that he made money off his daughter’s death.
The dancehall artiste met her untimely death on February 8, 2018 – just a week to her birthday while returning to Accra after visiting her mom in Sunyani.
The father, granted interviews all throughout the year and the year after, to talk about the loss, disagreement between himself and her manager, Bullet.
He also signed some young female artistes to manage them.
Speaking to Zion Felix on ‘Uncut’, he said all rumours about his wealth are speculations and that he was surprised when he heard he made money month his daughter’s death.
“Before Ebony, I have been Nana Poku Kwarteng. I made Ebony”
He added that Ghanaians only knew him after seeing him in Ebony’s ‘Sponsor’ video so everything is just a figment of their imagination.
Aside from Nana Appiah Mensah of Menzgold who was one of the people who he said ‘gave a lot’, he noted that few others made donations towards the funeral but not the amounts speculated.
“…in any case, the funeral took place before the donations and even that, I had already made provisions for a greater part of the funeral activities.
“I even heard people say Nana Addo gave me 500 million, Kasapreko gave me 900 million which are all lies but it was not necessary to defend my name because what I lost at that time is worth more than the monies they’re talking about.
“I beg of you, most of the rumours are not true”
Two years after Ebony passed on, the father said it has not been easy living without her but life goes on.
