Communications lecturer and arts writer, Mic Yamoah, has expressed worry about the composition of the 3 Music Awards board.
In an interview with Nii Noi on ATV’s ‘Christian Entertainment Show’, Mic said the inclusion of many media practitioners and showbiz critics on the board was inimical to the growth of the scheme.
According to him, the role of the media is to be a check on schemes like 3 Music Awards but he has realised the current Board is comprised of a lot of people from the media.
He noted that because of this, all those media people who hitherto would have criticised activities of the award scheme, have been muzzled by their roles as board members.
“Looking at their Board composition and the number of people they’ve packed in there, I see too many of radio people and critics on the Board and for me, it is not making people scrutinise the awards, unlike Ghana Music Awards; and I’ve seen people who now are hosting radio shows and they can’t even talk but to rather defend the scheme,” he said.
He added that he was happy about the 3 Music Awards concept and he the organisers could rather have made these media people researchers than Board members.
The 3 Music Awards Board has media people and critics such as Sammy Flex (Zylofon FM), MzGee (3 FM), AJ Sarpong (Citi FM), Arnold Asamoah Baidoo (entertainmentgh.com), George Mensah Britton (GBAfrica.com), Nii Attakorah Mensah (MiPromo.com), Kelly Nii Lartey Mensah (EIB Network), among others.
