Actor, Elikem Kumordzi has advised actors to go out and look for a day job and leave producers alone.
This comment is a response to the growing complaints of producers not paying actors for their services.
Kofi Adjorlolo in a recent interview went viral after complaining about seven producers owing him.
According to him, the new actors only do the job out of passion because they don’t get paid either.
“Some of the producers in Ghana here, they should respect themselves. An old man like me, they’ll call me to come and work and then they can’t pay me. About seven producers in this country they owe me monies…why? And then I’m sitting at home and I’m hungry.
“As for the young actors they don’t even pay them because of the passion they have for acting, they come and do the work, they don’t pay them,” he stated.
Other actors have come out to confirm Kofi Adjorlolo’s claim with some even mentioning names.
Reacting to the issue, Elikem who is also a tailor, took to Instagram to share a video of himself which he captioned, “Letter to my Fellow Actors. STOP complaining. leave the producers alone. find a day job. and see who they will shoot with”
In the video, he said he was pushed into looking for ways to support himself when producers refused to pay him and rather turned him into an errand boy.
“There’s all this plenty talk on the internet about how producers in Ghana don’t pay actors. For me, it’s actually a good thing for me that producers were not paying me. I agree a hundred per cent that producers in Ghana don’t pay. Some of them do, some of them don’t, some of them will pay you shi* wage, literally”.
“…you can’t wanna do entertainment and not have a day job, especially in the beginning” he stated
