Famous highlife artiste, Amakye Dede has cautioned up and coming musicians to keep the Ghanaian Highlife brand alive by doing do authentic.
He said Ghanaian Nigerians have taken the authentic Ghanaian highlife sound.
He a few young artistes including Kuami Eugene is doing well but it is not encouraging.
“The only authentic music we have is Highlife but unfortunately it is only a few young musicians who are doing pure Highlife. We have allowed the Nigerians to take that from us and it is not so good for the future of our industry.
The likes of Kuami Eugene are doing great when it comes to Highlife music but I wish there were more young artistes taking up the genre,” he told Graphic Showbiz in a recent interview.
According to Amakye Dede, he tries as much as possible to tell the Ghanaian story through his songs and that is the way to go and that there is no way Nigerians should take Highlife music when it originated from Ghana.
“We can tell our own stories through Highlife and that is what I mostly do on my songs. I try as much as possible to make sure Ghanaians can relate to my songs,” he said.
