The president of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has extended his gratitude to Hollywood Star Boris Kodjoe and American and marketing officer, Bozoma Saint John for their efforts towards the success of the Year of Return.
The Year of Return which was launched in Washington DC in 2018 to Mark 400 years since the first captured slaves arrived in Jamestown, saw the visit of international stars of Ghanaian descent and friends in neighbouring countries.
The visit of the international icons was, however, led by Bozoma and Boris Kodjoe who invited their friends.
Addressing parliament on the state of the nation today, the president said both public figures played a key role in changing the Ghanaian narrative with their influence.
“I shall thank two people in particular who have embraced their Ghanaian heritage and they’ve played a key role in our efforts to build lasting bridges between Ghana and African Americans, Hollywood Star, Boris Kodjoe and international marketing icon, Bozoma Saint John. We’re grateful to both of them for leveraging their star power to attract thousands to the land of their fathers and to drive a fresh narrative that says Ghana is a land of opportunity; visit, invest, make it your home.
“We appreciate deeply their contribution and that of many others to the success of the entire project,” the president noted.
