King Promise was one of the artistes who were heavily trolled on social media for not winning awards at the 2018 VGMAs but in his case especially because of his sneaker.
The artiste who is identified with huge footwears wore a big Balenciaga to perform on the stage and became the talk of the public even after the event ended.
He was nominated in five categories including Afro Pop Song of the year, Music Video of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Best New Artiste of the Year and Song of the Year.
Speaking to Jessica on Traffic Avenue on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, he said he was more excited about performing on the night than winning award.
He said this in reaction to fan’s question on why he wears big shoes.
“I didn’t even know it was going to be a big thing when I had my Balenciaga like two years ago. For me it was swag…and then I get there, I was actually more even excited to perform at the awards than even win an award and at the end of the night it was more talk about my shoes,” he stated.
He added that he just likes to look good.
