Member of Praye musical group, Cartel Big J who is also known as Praye Tietia has chosen rapper Sarkodie as the ‘Artist of the Year’ for the 21st edition of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
His comment is a response to Zion Felix’s post on Instagram.
The blogger and radio presenter shared a post of the artistes nominated in the category and captioned it :”Who wins artiste of the year?”
Praye Tietia did not only mention Sarkodie, he also stated the reason for which he thinks Sarkodie qualifies to be crowned over the others in the category – Kuami Eugene, Medikal, Diana Hamilton and Kofi Kinaata.
According to him, Sarkodie “sarkodie did the most last year”.
“I think everyone here deserves a win because they all worked very hard the year under review but in my opinion sarkodie did the most last year. An alpha Ep, and an album all in one year, a BET HIP HOP AWARDS, 6 big tunes, Saara, ofeetso, year of return, Do you, who the man, regular etc, three of which is currently still on the charts, a ground breaking “this is Tema” music festival and a super SOLD OUT rapperholic concert to close down the year. I think it’s only fair that he gets the “artiste of the year” again not because he’s sarkodie but the boy worked just too hard last year mehhnn” he commented under the post.
Organizers of the event, Charterhouse released this year’s nominees’ list over the weekend and Sarkodie got nominated in categories including Best Collaboration of The Year, Best Rapper of The Year, Hip Life/ Hip Hop Artiste of The Year, Hip Hop Song of The Year, Hip Life Song of The Year, High Life Song of The Year, International Collaboration of The Year, Album of The Year, Vodafone Most Popular Song of The Year and Artist of The Year.
