Media personality, Afia Schwarzenegger has opened up on her married life in a recent interview.

She recounted how she met and got married to her now ex-husband, Lawrence Abrokwah.

Afia Schwarzenegger and Lawrence Abrokwah got married in 2016 but it ended after her husband caught her in bed with another man and filmed it and it leaked on social media. It became a court case and after the back and forth for a whole year, she was finally granted a divorce in January 2020.

Speaking to actress Joselyn Dumas’s ‘Keeping It Real’ she narrated how she had series of surgeries in South Africa and had to live with a brother whom Abrokwah helped to clean his house and drive to work.

“Lawrence will come and clean the house and go, my brother is married to a Twana lady and they are very lazy and my sister-in-law will sit down and like, won’t you wash the dishes, no Lawrence will come and wash it,” she dramatised.

According to Afia Schwarzenegger, she was immobile as a result of the series of surgeries and getting care was sort of a problem which made her decision with her brother to go and live with Abrokwah who qualified as a caregiver whose charge is better as compared to the nurse her brother hired for her from the onset.

She said Abrokwah assured her of good care if she moved in with him and added that “I’ll quote him: my flat won’t be up to your standard. I don’t have DSTV, I don’t have the bed the way you want it but I can give you the proper care when you’re with me.”

When she was asked to clarify what kind of care she was talking about because she had a white nurse, a Zulu man (whom Afia said communication was a barrier between them), she replied, “it was a care of put me in my wheelchair and push me to the toilet”

Touching on what the ailment was, she noted, “I had Kidney stones and fibroadenoma at the same time so I had two of my breasts slashed, I had part of my stomach gone, I couldn’t lift my arms. For 6 months I wasn’t able to lift my arms… I’ve got so many scars if I take off my clothes… so when I say I needed care, I needed help”

She also mentioned that she got bored really fast in her marriage – “I really got bored in my marriage, very quick. I blame myself because I should have dated my husband for even 2 months.”
