Media personality, Afia Schwarzenegger has disclosed that her ex-husband, Lawrence Abrokwa beat her up which resulted in losing her forty-day old pregnancy.
Afia who married Lawrence Abrokwa after he took care of her while she was bedridden out of going through a series of surgeries, has been loud about being abused since the marriage went sour.
In a recent interview with Joselyn Dumas on the ‘Real Talk’ show, she noted that her ex-husband put up a good behaviour from the start when they met in South Africa and that they did not take time to date and learn more about themselves.
“The first day my ex-husband raised his hand on me I was pregnant for him 40 days and we lost the baby. He drugged my handicapped mother on the floor. I was amazed..he pushed me to the ground, I started bleeding,” she recounted.
She also narrated how she stocked his wardrobe and took care of him but all he did was abuse her and get back with pastors to plead on his behalf only to be taken back and then go back to being abusive and controlling.
She added that she was forced to stay in the marriage because of society adding that ” if I had left, you will all say I am the evil one.”
“society pressured me. I’d have left that marriage may be one month or two months after. We were married for 6 months. I would have left that marriage probably one month or two months after.”
To drive home her point, she showed Joselyn a video she did of her ex-husband threatening her with a bottle and a scar she got from hot water he poured on her.
“I divorced this guy based on the fact that I can’t feed you and you’ll beat me,” she noted.
