Blogger and publicist Elorm Beenie has expressed disappointment in Ghanaian artistes, calling them hypocrites.

According to him, no Ghanaian artiste thought it a necessity to do a song to educate fans on the novel COVID- 19 yet are in a rush to cash in on Nana Ama and Sammy’s broken heart issue that hit the internet and has been trending since last night.

He added that aside from a few good ones, the rest are greedy and will reap where they did not sow.

“#CoronaVirus dey kill people NONE of these GHANA artistes rushed into studio to lay vocals to educate people but some bwoy broken heart matter come they all wanna drop songs titled #NanaAma. They all wanna make profit out of it. Most of these artistes…they are so greedy (except a few). Nuff a dem Opportunists & Hypocrites!!!,” he posted on Facebook.

Nana Ama has been in social media trends since last night after Samuel Aboagye, a student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology got jilted by his girlfriend, Nana Ama, also a student of the university over cheating claims.

Social media has been flooded with videos and audios all mocking Sammy especially for crying and begging for forgiveness.

There are the Nana Ama challenge and stories of broken heart experiences all over the internet.

Some celebrities have shown interest in the case, sharing their opinion and others also pleading on behalf of Sammy.

Pappy Kojo also suggested this was the right time to do a remix of his song, ‘Nana Ama’.

What is coronavirus?

It was first detected in Wuhan, China, in December 2019 and has spread to other parts of the world.

The COVID-19 is caused by a member of the coronavirus family but this is the first of its kind, hence the ‘novel’.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV).

Coronaviruses are zoonotic which means they are transmitted between animals and people.

Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. The virus can also cause pneumonia in severe cases and even organ failure.

The novel coronavirus is airborne and symptoms begin to manifest after 14 days. An infected person could transmit the disease before symptoms begin to manifest.

The virus is spread mainly through close contact of 6 feet with the infected through respiratory droplets, coughs or sneezes.

Update:

So far  105 cases have been recorded in Africa

Egypt – 59

Algeria 20

South Africa – 7

Tunisia – 5

Senegal – 4

Morroco – 3 (1 dead)

Cameroon – 2

Nigeria – 2

Burkina Faso – 2

Togo – 1

As at 7th of March, World Health Organization reports, the global number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 has surpassed 100 000.

WHO calls on all leaders to put in all efforts to slow the spread of the disease and save lives adding that “allowing uncontrolled spread should not be a choice of any government, as it will harm not only the citizens of that country but affect other countries as well.

“We must stop, contain, control, delay and reduce the impact of this virus at every opportunity. Every person has the capacity to contribute, to protect themselves, to protect others, whether in the home, the community, the healthcare system, the workplace or the transport system”

Meanwhile, WHO says, the organization will continue to work with all countries, partners and expert networks to coordinate the international response, develop guidance, distribute supplies, share knowledge and provide people with the information they need to protect themselves and others until  a vaccine is arrived at.
