Media personality Afia Schwarzenegger has accused the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) of taking bribe and allowing some people to advertise for alcoholic beverages while preventing others.
The FDA put a ban on celebrity alcohol endorsement and advertisement to protect minors from alcoholism and it has been a matter of concern to some celebrities.
Celebrities including Edem, Shatta Wale, Wendy Shay, Kwame Dzokoto and Afia Schwarzenegger have challenged the ban yet the FDA is adamant on lifting it.
Touching on the issue this time around, Afia took to Instagram to label the accusations in an act of curse.
From the video, she could be seen clad in a piece of towel and a glass of liquid she disclosed is alcohol.
Afia, however, believes there’s a foul play in the ban, claiming some alcoholic beverages advertisement are aired live during the Ghana Premier League matches.
“You take bribe and allow some people to advertise for alcoholic beverages while others don’t,” she said in an Instagram post on Friday. “Adonko [Bitters] can air their adverts during EPL matches but the rest aren’t allowed,” she said.
She added that some alcoholic adverts are being aired on television while she and her colleagues are not allowed to advertise and make money to feed their families.
