Ghana recorded its first case of the pandemic virus, COVID 19 last night and it has become the topmost topics in the trends on social media.
One of the hashtags on twitter is #CloseBordersNow to push for the lockdown on travels in and out of Ghana. Some measures put in to control the escalation of the disease in most parts of the world like China is the closure of schools, quarantines and travel restrictions.
And after the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu at an emergency press briefing confirmed Ghana has two cases of the coronavirus, Ghanaians have been requesting that the borders should be closed to prevent movements and further spread of the pandemic.
Celebrities have also joined in on the campaign and one such person is Efia Odo who has become passionate about the disease especially after her friend in New York tested positive for the virus. She has been educating her followers and sharing her opinion in a series of tweets.
In one of them, she also suggested that the borders be closed. She said Ghana cannot afford to waste time or things might get out of hand.
“Ghana must shut down all entry points don’t wait till it’s too late. Developed countries can’t even manage it how much more us who’s health facilities are insufficient. But seriously close your circle of friends and do self-quarantine. Wash your hands after touching any surface,” she tweeted.
