Ghanaian actress, Lydia Forson has said the coronavirus pandemic is exposing how irresponsible the leaders in Ghana are.
This comes on the back of the Electoral Commission’s decision to go ahead with the new voters’ registration despite the pandemic and directives to avoid public gatherings.
According to her, Ghanaian leaders are more willing to put their interests before the lives of citizens.
She made this statement in response to the Electoral Commission’s decision to go ahead with the compilation of the new voters’ register.
“Let me tell you all something, the #coronavirus is exposing just how irresponsible a lot of our leaders are and how they’re more than willing to put their interest before your lives. To even make this announcement at this time is irresponsible.”

On Sunday 15th March 2020, the president in an address to the nation put a ban on public gatherings stating it is in the interest of the citizens.
“I have decided in the interest of public safety and the protection of our population to review the public gathering advisories earlier announced as follows: Firstly, all public gatherings including conferences, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, sporting events and religious activities, such as services in churches and mosques, have been suspended for the next four (4) weeks,” the President said.
However, it seems this directive does not apply to the EC although every institution is to adhere to it.
