Ghanaian eatery, Wonder Wings has offered to provide the Medical staff at the Accra Regional Hospital, Ridge who are attending to the quarantined patients with free lunch until the covid-19 pandemic is dealt with.
This comes after a bad joke the company made with their social media handle on twitter.
In a tweet dated 19th March 2020, Wonder Wings twitter handle posted a picture of their food and added a caption saying two of their “2 of our dispatch riders just TESTED POSITIVE for Fastest delivery!”
Although this line has become a trend on social media lately, Ghanaian actress Lydia Forson called the eatery out on their irresponsibility.
She said the were capitalizing on people’s fear to market their product.
She continued to advise them to either donate hand sanitizers or food to the Health workers at Ridge to help combat the pandemic instead of making jokes out of the situation.
“How about sending free food to medical staff or donate sanitizers, or hire writers to crack better jokes,” she replied.
Wonder Wings considered Lydia’s suggestion and later tweeted that from the 19th of March they were going to provide free lunch to the medical staff of the Ridge Hospital from now till the pandemic is over.
“ATTENTION Starting today until the end of the Covid-19 Pandemic. We will provide Free Lunch to the Medical staff at the Ridge Hospital who are taking care of the quarantined brothers and sisters. Let us all stay safe and spread Love,” Wonder Wings handle tweeted
