Dancehall artiste, Samini has advised the youth to stay away from cannabis since it has only been approved for industry and health use.
On Friday evening, parliament passed the Narcotics Control Commission Bill, 2019 to decriminalize the use of cannabis for health and industrial use.
Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) who are in charge of the formulation and enforcement of narcotics laws in the country, however, will still have the mandate to control and eliminate the trafficking of prohibited narcotic drugs to ensure public safety.
While the punishment for the cannabis-related offences has also been stiffened.
When the news about the legalization got out, social media was seen rejoicing except most people did not read the part that says it was only for health and industrial purposes.
The High Grade Family label CEO was one of the people who reacted to the news in a series of tweets.
In a new tweet, he cautioned the public to not go about smoking adding that one “will be a criminal if caught in possession or using. Itβs not legal to smoke it yet please.”
