Former president, John Dramani Mahama has made donations of Personal Protective Equipments(PPEs) to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge)
The items which includes 100 full2sets of PPE, 100 gum boots, 120 doctors scrubs, 50 patients gowns, 30 theatre gowns and 400 packs of bottled drinking water are to help the frontline workers to better deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
There have been reports of medical staff lacking some essential materials like the face mask in the past week as cases of the covid-19 continues to increase in Ghana.
In a YouTube video posted to Mr Mahama’s page, he said the team chose Ridge because they are “the main facility that’s helping in this fight against Covid-19”
The donation which was done on behalf of the NDC covid-19 team he said is to help the medical staff fight the pandemic.
“We’ve been following what’s been going on, shortage of protective equipment and the basic things that’ll help the frontline medical staff in the fight against the virus.
“…even as you fight to protect us you ourselves will be safe and your families will be safe” he noted.
In response to reports of a shortage of badly needed PPEs for medical personal working at the Greater Accra Regional (Ridge) Hospital, I led the NDC COVID-19 Technical Team to present a quantity of medical items to the hospital.

So far Ghana has confirmed 152 covid19 cases , 5 deaths.
Two people have been discharged after recovery while two others await test results on whether or not to be discharged.
Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions are under a partial lockdown for a 14 day period starting 1am Monday March 30 2020 to prevent the spread of the disease.
A joint task force made up of the police, army and navy are overseeing this lockdown.
